Lift posts Empty Lift posts

Hi we just bought a trailer the corner lift posts were in sad shape .
After a lot of work we fixed them and put in new cables .
What I need to know is do these posts just float there with out any holders or brackets only one screw at the bottom .
It looks like the roof will move a lot if it gets windy
