hitch for cargo carrier

hello all,
Other than modifying my very weak rear bumper on my 2004 BA650TT Bonair hard top trailer.
I need to attach a trailer hitch somewhere under the unit. I have a cargo carrier that needs a type 2/3 hitch.
I looked into the Curt hitch attachment for bumpers and it is much too heavy for the light bumper on the trailer. Once attached the bumper wanted to bend/fold?
Any ideas?
